Lew Faust was born and raised in Derby, Kansas. He graduated from Derby High School before earning two degrees from the University of Kansas—one in Education (Physical Education) and a second in General Studies, majoring in Political Science with a minor in American History.
Lew began his teaching career in McPherson, where he taught high school history and government, coached football and wrestling, and built a strong reputation as a student-first educator and mentor.
After earning his Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision from Wichita State, Lew moved into school leadership, serving as Principal, Assistant Principal, and Director of Business Services over a 43-year career that included:
Lew and his wife Audrey have lived in Manhattan since 2009. Their children and grandchildren span Kansas and Texas, and their son Bradley, who has autism, lives with them in Manhattan. Lew’s experience as a parent of a student with special needs gives him an important perspective on the importance of inclusion, support, and individualized education.
Today, Lew remains active in the community, serving as Vice President of the Manhattan Area Retired Teachers Association and volunteering with local groups.
